Easy not to do

Ever focus on what you don’t want? Me too. Thus I have not benefited from regular posting here.

I love the growth and learning. The fun. The thrill.

Today is what I share here. Saving up for a future post clogs the pipes (beside ‘some day’ never really arrives).

Last time we will talk about not doing here.

So… Into Linchpin one more time. Can you be indispensable? Seth ask us; Are you indispensable?

Time to be an artist. Thanks Seth.
  • Artist are people with a genius for finding a new answer, a new connection, or a new way of getting things done.
  • Art, at least as I define it, is the intentional act of using your humanity to create a change in another person.

Have you been scared today? Good for you. Time to take action to grow. Thanks.

Linchpin goes to school

Seth Godin made it easy to lead when he allowed us to make a difference through the Acumen Foundation (thanks Seth). His gift, Linchpin: Are You Indispensable? is making a difference in my classroom.

What has us excited?

Emotional Labor and Making Maps validates the grand side adventures we take to understand the WHY in many of the things we do.

No cog workers trained here. Our subject matter could be mundane except we understand it as the medium in which we have to practice our art. As Seth states; My students’ “art is a personal gift that changes the recipient.”

Students that are indispensable because of their hearts of service. We are in good hands with these students because Linchpin goes to school.

Moving from Strength to Strength

Strength richly flows in a tribe where the members are concerned with each others success. When Seth Godin brought us together as a Tribe last year we could not have know the adventures that awaited us. We brave souls embarked on self selecting voyages because the world needed us to.

My voyage in the classroom was a resounding success because of the loving encouragement coupled with focused insight from the Tribe. I could not adequately express my thanks so I will let one of my students say it:

“I went into my senior year almost certain that I knew what I wanted to do with my life. But you taught me and many others a lot more than we could ever imagine. You taught us about being a leader and about being in a tribe. Things that some people will never understand, certain skills that will set us above others. You have made a big impact in my life and have taught me many skills that I can use to accomplish what I wanna do in life.”

It only gets better from here. Thanks Seth, Happy Birthday Tribes.

Declare your position (What are you standing for?)

Picture a lifetime ago in 2003 when I penned ‘Discovering and Nurturing Possibilities to Transform the World’ as my position (in 8 words). The wonderful and talented Jacquie Shillis helped tremendously in this endeavor through wordsmithing, encouragement and believing.

A recent post on DailyLit by Tom Peters speaks volumes to get us excited to answer ‘What are you standing for?’ (and yes, I learned 8 words or less from Seth Godin).

We have the privilege to be the only person who can fulfill the adventure before us. Please be sure to allow folks like Jacquie to contribute to your success. Remember the Japanese Proverb; “None of us are as smart as all of us.”
