Kick it up

A great friend, Ken Larrabee recently expressed what he he saw as a need in my life to “kick it up.’ Here are the initial steps he laid out.

1. Write things down. They go into your mind in a different way.

2. What can I do for incremental improvement? Maybe 10%. It may be hard for a little bit but then it just becomes second nature.

3. Look for someone I can talk with, mentor with.

4. Get a mirror, use that mirror and talk yourself up.

Great insight anyone could use.

Where do you want to be tomorrow? What steps are you taking to get there? I am implementing all the insight above from my wise friend.

You are made for action and I know when you read this post on Tom Peters’ blog you will want to take it up a notch. Reminds me of what Dr. Ernesto Sirolli lays out in Ripples from the Zambezi; “ENTERPRISE FACILITATION WORKS BECAUSE IT ENCOURAGES MORE people to seriously think about entering the business arena.” (his emphasis)

Had a good conservation today?

We crave attention. A fantastic tool we can exercise throughout each day to shower attention on others is listening.

Do this simple experiment. Make a conscious effort to (really) listen in your conservations for a day. What might this experiment unveil?

1. Folks viewing you as smart
2. Folks liking you more
3. Folks including you more
4. Folks seeking you out
5. Moving relationships to a higher level
…Many more I assure you…

Really is no downside and you are learning a great habit. Thanks for listening.

Tell me your “why.” Hopefully it is as strong as what Robert Louis Stevenson wrote; “The world has no room for cowards. We must all be ready somehow to toll, to suffer, to die. And yours is not the less noble because no drum beats before you when you go out into your daily battlefields, and no crowds shout about your coming when you return from your daily victory or defeat.” You and I were made to shine, to have victory. Take a cue from the human body, in its natural state it regenerates (heals) itself. So it is un-natural if we do less than what Helen Keller stated; “Life is either a daring adventure or nothing.” You are up to it. You are capable of wondrous feats. Dream big.
